The Great War (WWI) was one of the most devastating wars in world history, with millions killed and wounded, but even greater devastation was brought to much of the world at the same time by the influenza pandemic of 1918, which killed at least 20 million - much more than killed in the war. Sandusky and Erie County did not escape this virus.
